Foot Tendonitis Home Remedies

Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon. If you have tendonitis in your foot and are looking for some relief, here are some home remedies that are simple with no side effects.

  • Rest: it is the foremost important thing that a patient needs in any injury related to the foot. In the case of foot tendonitis, it is subjected to the rest required by the foot. One must let go of all activities and responsibilities. He must also relieve himself from tension and stress. He need to take rest and settle down on a sofa or bed for at least 2 weeks minimum depending upon the degree of damage. Moreover, in worse case scenarios, a plaster may also be used to give the foot the rest it needs.

  • Hot and Cold therapy: You have two options in this. Either use a pack of ice on the swelled area so that it gets better or use a a warm towel or cloth that had been soaked in hot water. In both cases, the tendon feels better and this therapy helps in recovery. Try both styles of therapy and use the one that is more comfortable for you as choice varies from person to person.

  • Use of arch support: In many cases of foot tendonitis, an arch support is placed below the leg so that it brings peace to the foot. In such a position, the foot feels safe and movement is also restricted. This inclined position is ideal for recovery and the patient himself feels better, as it allows the tendon to heal faster and doesn’t feel any irritation placing the foot on a mattress or a cushion. This is a better option than them.

  • Elevation of the foot: In many cases just elevating the foot does much good for the foot. But the elevation is conditional. As you must elevate your foot above the level of your heart and lie down on a straight back. It might be a bit irritating, yet, it helps a lot in reduction of inflammation and further swelling is controlled. The pain also seems to get better and lessons with time. You allow your foot to rest and stay at a fix position in this case which is good sign of recovery.
